There's something enchanting about gathering around a campfire—the crackling of wood, the warmth against the night chill, and the camaraderie shared over stories and laughter. But a successful campfire is not just about the flames—it's about the ambience, the company, and the activities that make memories last a lifetime.
Here are a few games to kick off the fun!
I WENT CAMPING
HOW TO PLAY
TO PLAY: 2 or more players
AGES: Calling all ages!
YOU WILL NEED: Just good company!
1. The game begins with someone saying, "I went camping the other day and brought along..." followed by an item of their choice.
2. Moving clockwise, the next player repeats the entire phrase said by the previous player and then adds a new item of their own. (For example: I went camping the other day and brought along an air
mattress, and a blanket)
3. Players continue this pattern, repeating all the items mentioned by previous players and adding new ones.
4. If a player makes a mistake or takes too long to choose an item, they are eliminated.
5. The last player standing (or sitting!) wins the game!
GO BIG TIP: For an added challenge, the first person has to choose an item beginning with A, then the next person B etc.
THE GAME WITH NO NAME
how to play
TO PLAY: 4 or more players
AGES: 7+ (but your game will be tweaked depending on the ages playing - ie: which famous people you choose)
YOU WILL NEED: pencil, paper, container, timer
- All players think of 4* famous people and write them on paper (not telling anyone else.)
- Place names (folded) in container.
- Divide into 2 teams (if you have more than 8 people, make 3 teams)
- In this game you have 3 rounds. For each round, teams will have 1 min to try and get as many correct names as possible.
- For example: one member of the Blue Team will give clues and their blue team mates have to guess who it is. They have 1 minute to guess as many as possible. Then one member of the Red team will give clues to their red team mates to guess the famous person. They also have 1 minute to guess as many as possible. If not all names are guessed, it goes back to Blue team for 1 min and so on.
- The container of names will go back and forth between the teams (each with 1 min) until all the names are guessed.
- Each minute within the teams you rotate who is playing and who is guessing.
HOW TO WIN: Guess the most names correct across the 3 rounds (cumulative).
ROUND 1 > DESCRIBE
Chosen team member will explain who the famous person is without saying their name to their fellow team members. Their team members will try and guess who this person is. Once guessed, this same person takes another name from the container. The team guess as many as they can in 1 min. Teams swap after 1 min. Keep going till all names are guessed from the container.
ROUND 2 > CHARADES
Team member acts the famous person. Once guessed, take another name. Repeat as before
between the teams till the names are gone.
ROUND 3 > ONE WORD
Team member says only 1 word to describe the famous person.
RULE CLARIFICATIONS:
- If someone speaks during charades or says more than 1 word they forfeit that round and it’s the other teams turn.
- If your fellow teammates don’t guess what you are saying/acting before the 1min buzzer goes, they put the name back in the container and it continues on for the next turn.
- Whichever team the round finishes on (no matter if it finishes after 10sec and only 1 name) it’s the other team's turn at the start of the next round.
*If you race through the names too quickly, each player can write more than 4 names per person.
